Tip: Importing Email Lists Into Facebook Pages
Here’s a nifty and relatively new little feature we thought we’d pass on to our friends and customers who now administrate their own Facebook Pages.
Facebook Page admins can now send up to 5000 email invitations to people who they think might like to become a follower of their Page with a new feature called “Tell your Fans.” You can now upload a file containing your email contacts and Facebook will securely import them. You will then be able to suggest your Page to your contacts. It may not have quite rolled out to everyone yet, but here’s how you find it and what to do. To access the email importer, visit the “Tell your Fans” section in the Marketing tab of your Page Manager.
Under your title, in our case ‘Conversify’, click the ‘Edit Info’ link. Now, on the bottom left, click on ‘Resources’. There’s plenty of good stuff in here, but for now let’s concentrate on the ‘Tell Your Fans’ link under ‘Connect with people’.
You can import database files from Awebber, Constant Contact, a common .csv, or from an email program like Outlook (and Outlook Express), Windows Address Book, Thunderbird, Palm Desktop (vCard), Entourage, Mac OS X Address Book or Windows Mail, even LinkedIn (which is a nice touch). It also allows you to use web-based email like Yahoo or Gmail.
If their email account is linked to their Facebook account you should see the names and avatars of the relevant Facebook users as they import. It’s always good to know when something’s working.
Hope you find this useful. So often functionality like this is hidden away in the social channels, but for more up-to-the-minute Facebook (and other social network) tips you can join us on our Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/conversify.
